TROY — A renewal of the .85 operating levy, which supports the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center unofficially passed 68 percent to 31 percent on Nov. 3.
The money is used for operations, programing and maintenance of Troy’s hundred-year-old landmark. The remainder of Hayner’s support is derived from fees, grants and donations to the Friends of Hayner membership organization.
The levy, which will not increase taxes, will generate $545,200 annually for the next five years. Executive director Linda Lee Jolly said the levy serves as the primary funding for the center.
“We have one budget line, so our budget — the levy money is 82-85 percent of our total budget every year, and it pays the operational expenses to keep the doors open, the support for programming, and for maintenance of the 100-year-old mansion,” she said.
The levy passed 5,957 to 2,723.
