Chief suggests resident check with insurance

Fire insurance rating improves after analysis

MONROE TOWNSHIP — Monroe Township property owners are encouraged to check with their property insurance providers regarding Tipp City Fire Chief Steve Kessler’s announcement at the Monroe Township Trustees’ meeting on Oct. 5 that the fire insurance rating for Monroe Township has improved after a recent analysis of the structural fire suppression delivery system provided in this community.

This rating report issued by the Insurance Rating Office (ISO) recently showed an improvement had occurred in Monroe Township and is why Chief Kessler suggested those with property insurance may be in line for a reduction in their insurance rates.

John Berk of the Tipp City Seniors organization reported to the trustees that the Tipp City Seniors Inc. have entered into an agreement with Michael E. Winblad for the purchase of property at 855 N. Hyatt St. This property is proposed as the new site for the Tipp City Seniors should the levy pass on Nov. 3. The group is also planning open houses at the current Tipp City Senior Citizens building (320 S. First St.) to answer questions and inform local residents concerning this levy; and those remaining dates/times are Oct. 23 at 1:30 p.m. and Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.

In reports, it was noted approximately 60-75 visitors stopped by the Monroe Township Building during the Tipp City Secret Tour held Oct. 3. The downtown building tour was sponsored by the Tipp Educational Endowment for scholarship funding, and those who toured the township building were able to reminisce and become educated about how this building has progressed throughout its 100 year history.

The trustees approved bills at the Monday evening meeting totaling $59,669.48, and also accepted the financial status report of September 2015 and the bank reconciliation report on Aug. 31.

The township’s cemetery clean-up is scheduled to begin the week of Oct. 19, therefore decorations should be removed by Oct. 18 and winter decorations and floral arrangements may be placed beginning Nov. 1.

This year’s “Trick or Treat” night in Miami County has been set for 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29.

The next township trustees meeting will be held 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19 in the township meeting room, 6 E. Main St., Tipp City.
