Newton production begins today

PLEASANT HILL — The Newton High School Drama Club is performing “The Wizard of Oz” (Young Performers Edition) on Friday March 10, and Saturday March 11 at 7 p.m.

The play takes place in the high school cafeteria. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are $5 at the door.

Seniors Ashley Anthony (Dorothy), Windsor Rapp (Scarecrow), Milan Bess (Tin Woodsman), and sophomores Garrison Willoughby (Cowardly Lion) and Kasey Bowerman (Toto) star in the show.

It also stars seniors Katherine Marker (The Wicked Witch), Abby Webb (Glinda), Michaela Drieling (Aunt Em), Skyler Wilson (Uncle Henry), and Jack Yoder (The Wizard). There are 22 sixth through 12th graders and 19 first through third graders in the cast and crew. The elementary cast includes Jacson Cress (Munchkin Mayor), Estie Rapp (Munchkin City Father), Madilynn Karns (Munchkin Coroner), Peyton Schutz (Munchkin Barrister), Claire Stull (Munchkin 1), and Emily Laughman (Munchkin 2).

The play was choreographed by Mrs. Tiffany Wall and is directed by Mrs. Wall and Miss Trina Short. Mr. Matthew Gaal was the music consultant and Mike Caldwell Audio Productions will produce the sound for the play.
