MONROE TOWNSHIP — The Monroe Township Trustees announced at their March 6 board meeting that they are accepting applications to fill a part-time seasonal position during the 2017 period of April 1-Sept. 30. These applications are available in the township office, 4 E. Main St. in Tipp City from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
In a report from a Miami County Sheriff’s Office deputy at the Monday night board meeting, it was advised residents need to be more mindful that as the season changes so does a greater opportunity for criminal activity and fraud. Residents and their neighbors are asked to be cautious about leaving open windows and garage doors for extended periods during warmer weather conditions, and to be alert in answering any phone call inquiries about your personal information.
The township trustees renewed a contract for the 2017 roadside ditch mowing season with Quick Mow Inc. of Millersburg that includes three rounds of mowing. Each of the mowing rounds will cost $787.50, the same fee as the 2016 contract.
Bills paid at the Monroe township meeting totaled $40,726.14, and the board also accepted all financial status reports for the end of February 2017 and the bank reconciliation report for Jan. 31, 2017, as provided by the township fiscal officer.
It was noted the Monroe Township Water and Sewer District Board will meet 6 p.m. Monday, March 13. The public is invited to attend these meetings, always held in the Monroe Township Trustees’ meeting room, 6 E. Main St., Tipp City.
Residents and families are once again being reminded by the township that the 2017 annual spring clean-up for Maple Hill Cemetery and all other Monroe township cemeteries will be the week of March 13. All decorations to be saved must be removed by March 12, and then spring items may be placed back on the gravesites beginning March 19. Accepted decorations include artificial arrangements in non-glass vases, on hanging devices, or by a monument saddle (recommended is permanently marked at the bottom of monument saddles with the deceased’s name and contact person so identification can be made if the saddle is blown off the monument). Please refrain from placement of landscape rocks around monuments, glass containers, wire, toys and figurines as these items pose maintenance and safety issues and interfere with mowing and/or trimming; and thereby, will be removed.
The next township trustees’ meeting is set for 7 p.m. Monday, March 20 and is held in their meeting room at 6 E. Main St., Tipp City.
