TROY — A 22 year-old Troy man is in Miami County Jail after Troy Police Department authorities discovered and dismantled a psychedelic mushroom growing operation on Monday.

Police conducted a search warrant at 608 East Main Street, Troy.

Brennen Knouff, 22, of Troy, has been charged with first degree felony illegal manufacturing of drugs, fifth degree felony trafficking in drugs, drug possession, and possession of schedule 1 or 2 drugs. He also was charged with two counts of misdemeanor drug possession and one count of drug paraphernalia.

“As part of an investigation, (Knouff) was contacted and admitted his part in growing psychedelic mushrooms at his house,” Captain Chris Anderson said Tuesday. Captain Anderson said officers were investigating an unrelated theft when information about the mushroom growing operation presented itself. Anderson said Knouff admitted his part in the operation.

Knouff remains in Miami County Jail awaiting arraignment on the charges.
