TIPP CITY — Beginning today, Tipp City shopkeepers are opening their doors for one of the biggest holiday shopping events in the area.
More than 35 downtown Tipp City businesses will participate in the annual Yuletide Winter’s Gathering open house from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
This historic district offers unique boutiques and restaurants with specialties including toys, games, vintage finds and antiques, collectibles, fashions and accessories, handmade soaps, household furniture, art, jewelry, specialty teas and coffee, books, confections and more.
The event also includes pictures with Santa at Mauk Cabinets beginning at noon both days, and horse drawn carriage rides up and down historic Main Street, Downtown Tipp City Partnership Director Heather Dorsten said.
Many downtown merchants will be offering sales and specials just for the weekend, she added. Several stores were closed in the days leading up to the event, preparing extra inventory for holiday shoppers.
Though their Tipp City stored has been closed since taking damage in a fire this summer, fashion and accessories boutique Merchant31 won’t be missing out on Yuletide Winter’s Gathering, Dorsten said. They will appear as a pop up shop inside Bodega.
Also during the event, shoppers will have a chance to meet the GOON Brothers — in disguise, of course — at That Place on Main. Keep an eye out for GOON Brothers marked envelopes that might contain fun surprises.
The annual Christmas Holiday Show, sponsored by the Valley Arts and Crafts Club, will also be offered from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday during Tipp City’s Winter Yuletide Gathering in the basement of the Monroe Township Building, corner of Third and Main streets.
This show features local artists with their handmade items including items in wood, fiber arts of all kinds, glass, polymer clay, jewelry, ceramics, candles and many other art forms. Santa will make an appearance from noon to 4 p.m. Food will be for lunch and snacks while visiting the show.
