MIAMI COUNTY — A Bukettsville woman who ran the stop sign at the intersection of Washington and Eldean roads, killing a Piqua woman last July, was indicted by a grand jury for vehicular manslaughter on Oct. 14.

According to court records, Mary Y. Kaiser, 64, of Burkettsville, was indicted for the second-degree misdemeanor for allegedly running a stop sign on July 11, killing Robin Supinger, 55, of Piqua.

Kaiser is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges in Miami County Municipal Court on Nov. 1.

According to reports, a passerby pulled Kaiser out of her vehicle after it caught fire following the crash. Kaiser suffered serious injuries from the incident.

Supinger, who was driving the second vehicle, a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

According to reports, crash reconstructionists’ preliminary findings determined Kaiser’s car was traveling eastbound on Eldean Road and failed to stop at the stop sign and crashed into Supinger’s SUV. Both vehicles then went off the roadway into a field, where they came to rest. Evidence at the scene indicated Kaiser never made any attempt to stop at the stop sign.

According to Ohio State Highway Patrol statistics, Miami County has reported seven fatal accidents in 2016, six recorded in rural areas.
