FLETCHER — Following an accident over the weekend, a bridge on North Lostcreek Shelby Road will be closed to traffic until the extent of the damage to the structure can be determined.
“We’re not sure whether the bridge was damaged structurally, ” Miami County Engineer Paul Huelskamp told the county commissioners at their meeting Tuesday.
The bridge guard rail was torn off during an accident Saturday, which resulted in a truck flipped on its top in a ravine. The driver was not seriously injured.
The Engineer’s Office is inspecting the bridge and will determine if the damage is significant enough to warrant replacement.
The road is currently closed.
According to reports, sheriff’s deputies responded to an accident in the 6600 block of North Lostcreek Shelby Road around 2:45 a.m. on Oct. 8.
A truck ran through a guard rail on the bridge and flipped on its top, according to the report. Fletcher Fire responded to the scene and freed the driver from the truck.
