MONROE TOWNSHIP — Improvements to Deerdale Park were announced at the Aug. 1 Monroe Township Trustees meeting including new nets and the striping of the basketball court, and spraying for vegetation at the courts and the playground area. The next steps will be to apply new mulch to the playground area.
The trustees will be at the Miami County Fair county-wide township booth on the evening of Wednesday, Aug. 17 from 4-9 p.m. The trustees invite Monroe Township residents to drop by to meet them and ask questions while visiting the fair. This year’s fair dates are August 12-18.
Additional meeting business included payment of township bills totaling $42,895.21; accepting the financial status report ending July 2016 and the bank reconciliation report as of June 30; the filling of a rental space in the township building; reviewing complaints over a traffic visibility issue at a rental property on Maxwell Court; and discussion over an upcoming newsletter being prepared by township personnel.
Reminders to township residents include the next Monroe Township Water and Sewer District meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, August 8 in the township meeting room, 6 E. Main St., Tipp City; the weekly Tipp City Farmer’s Marketplace on Thursdays from 5-8 p.m. at the corner of South Third and East Main streets; the Tipp City Senior Citizens 10 a.m. business meetings on the second and fourth Thursdays at the current location of 320 S. First St.; and the Miami County Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off event held each Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Miami County Sanitary Engineer Office, 2200 N. County Road 25-A, Troy. In other reports, it was noted the Randall Residence will be holding a ribbon cutting at 5:30 p.m. and an open house from 5-7 p.m. on August 11 that highlights a new gift shop for this assisted living facility, 6400 S. County Road 25-A, Tipp City.
The next township trustees meeting is set for 7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 15 at the township office, 6 E. Main St., Tipp City.
