Hagan attends conference

COVINGTON — Jenna Hagan was selected by the Covington American Legion Auxiliary to attend the Buckeye Girls State Delegate Conference held at the University of Mount Union from June 12-18.

Hagan, a senior at Covington High School, is the daughter of Tara and Mark Hagan. While she attended the conferene, she ran for the state board of education and was appointed as city historian, compiling a book that documented her assigned city’s essential date and members’ positions. Overall, Hagan said she came away from the experience with an appreciation for the importance of voting and a better understanding of the challenges in attaining government positions.

At Covington High School, Hagan is a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, Art Club and Spanish Club. She also played volleyball and has acted as a wrestling statistician. Futher, she has served her community through the Ohio Reads program, he high school peer tutor program, the Food for Children program and the Miami County Animal Shelter. Hagan also attended the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership conference last summer.
