PIQUA — The Piqua Police Department are searching for a local boy believed to be a runaway.
Joseph Marks, 15, of Piqua, has reportedly been missing for a week. He was last seen leaving his residence on June 23 at 9 p.m. He was reported missing approximately 12 hours later.
“He’s actively missing,” Piqua Chief of Police Bruce Jamison said. “We have reason to believe he’s a runaway.”
Jamison explained that runaways are considered to be at risk and the police department is making every effort to find Marks.
“Any time a kid goes missing we work hard to get them back quickly,” Jamison said. “If someone has information, we need it just the same.”
Marks is believed to still be in the city, and anyone with information about Marks’ whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Piqua Police Department or call 9-1-1.
Jamison also noted that anyone withholding information about Marks’ whereabouts could be charged.
“If they are doing anything to interfere with the legal custody of this child, they’re subject to criminal prosecution,” Jamison said.
Jamison confirmed that the same goes for any friends of Marks who may be hiding him or who may know where Marks is at but are not coming forward with the information.
