MIAMI COUNTY — Troy resident Thomas A. Contento, 49, pleaded guilty to two counts of rape in Miami County Common Pleas Court this week after originally facing a total of eight counts of rape.

Contento’s guilty pleas were part of a plea agreement with the state, which dismissed the six other counts first-degree felony rape. Prosecutors are expected to recommend a total of 18 years in prison for Contento.

According to previous reports, the sexual acts were against a child under the age of of 11.

Contento will be formally sentenced on Aug. 1. Contento is still being held at the Miami County Jail on $1.75 million bond.

In other news:

Arielle S. Jones, 20, of Detroit, was sentenced to two years of community control for fifth-degree felony forgery. The charge was in connection with an incident of $100 counterfeit bills surfacing in Piqua, Troy, and Sidney in August 2015.

Jones was first indicted in November 2015 and pleaded guilty to the charge in May of this year.

Jones was ordered to pay restitution to three businesses involved, including $100 each to Walmart, Aldi, and Dairy Queen in Piqua.
