Summer energy assistance available


MIAMI COUNTY — The Miami County Community Action Council (CAC) is administering Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) Summer Crisis Program (SCP) from July 1 through Aug. 31.

This program provides a one-time payment on a current electric bill. All households must be below 175 percent

Applications are available at the Miami County Community Action Council office and can be mailed directly to the State or for to energyhelp.ohio.gov to download an application.

The Winter Crisis Program (WCP) is also available during this time. This program helps eligible households who have been disconnected from their heating source, have received a disconnection notice, or have less than a 10 day supply of bulk fuel (propane, heating oil). Households in need of this assistance are encouraged to call Miami County CAC at 335-7921 to request an appointment. An adult member of the household must have a one-one-one meeting with a caseworker, provide a copy of their disconnection notice and current utility bill, social security numbers for all household members, proof of disability is applicable, and proof of income for the past three months for all household members. This program may be used only one time per heating season.

Households may receive assistance from both the HEAP and WCP programs. The guidelines for this year’s program have remained at 175 percent of the poverty level. A household whose total income is less than the following income guidelines may qualify for assistance:

  • One person household with a three month total income of $5,105.63, or a 12 month total income of $20,422.50
  • Two person household with a three month total income of $6,881.88, or a 12 month total income of $27,526.50
  • Three person household with a three month total income of $8,658.13, or a 12 month total income of $34,632.50
  • Four person household with a three month total income of $10,434.38, or a 12 month total income of $41, 737.50
  • Five person household with a three month total income of $12,210.63, or a 12 month total income of $48,842.50
  • Six person household with a three month total income of $13,986.88, or a 12 month total income of $55,947.50
  • Seven person household with a three month total income of $15,763.13, or a 12 month total income of $63,052.50
  • Eight person household with a three month total income of $17,539.38, or a 12 month total income of $70,157.50
