Troy man finalist in Lay’s competition

TROY — Matt Allen of Troy has been named one of four finalists across the nation in the Lay’s “Do Us A Flavor” contest.

Allen submitted Lay’s Cheddar Bacon Mac & Cheese Potato Chips and is now in the running for a $1 million grand prize.

Out of the more than 14 million submissions in this year’s contest, the four finalist flavors are:

• Lay’s Cheddar Bacon Mac & Cheese — submitted by Matt Allen, a fireman from Troy.

• Lay’s Cappuccino — submitted by Chad Scott, a visiting lecturer from Las Vegas, Nev.

• Lay’s Kettle Cooked Wasabi Ginger — submitted by Meneko Spigner McBeth, a nurse from Deptford, N.J.

· Lay’s Wavy Mango Salsa — submitted by Julia Stanley-Metz, an event planner from Sacramento, Calif.

Now, it’s up to America to determine who will win the $1 million grand prize.

On July 31, Allen will be joined by Mayor Michael L. Beamish at Troy’s Public Square to officially proclaim the date, “Lay’s Cheddar Bacon Mac & Cheese Potato Chip Day in Troy.”

From July 28 to Oct. 18, consumers may vote once each day for their favorite finalist flavor on; via Twitter, Instagram and/or Vine using the hashtags #SaveBaconMac, #SaveCappuccion, #SaveWasabi, #SaveMango; and/or via text message by texting “Bacon Mac,” “Cappuccino,” “Wasabi” or “Mango” to 24477 (CHIPS).
