MIAMI COUNTY - Three churches were vandalized or had attempted break-in reports in the western part of Miami County on Thursday.
According to the Miami County Sheriff’s Reports, the first report of property damage was made by Pastor Nick Beam of the Church of the Brethren in Pleasant Hill on Thursday afternoon.
Beam reported to a sheriff’s deputy that damage to four doors at the church building had pry marks to the doors and door jams. At the time of the report, no items were reported missing.
Two hours later, a resident reported a burglary complaint at the Ludlow Falls Christian Church. No further information about the damage or items stolen were available at press time.
A sheriff on patrol Thursday conducted a building check at the Highland Brethren in Christ Church, in the 7000 block of Jay Rd., West Milton, and observed damage to a rear window screen. The deputy continued checking the building and observed a back door had been pried at but no entry was made into the building. The deputy noted that it appeared someone used a pry bar and damaged both the window screen and the door jam. The rear door handle was also damaged.
