TROY — An inmate currently serving a prison sentence at Noble Correctional Institution in Caldwell who was brought back to Miami County on a felony sex offense was sentenced at a hearing in common pleas court Monday.
Stephan M. Perkins, 26, formerly of Covington, was ordered to serve two years in prison for his conviction of unlawful sexual conduct involving a minor, a third-degree felony.
In addition, Perkins was labelled as a tier II sex offender, which requires him to routinely register at the sheriff’s office as such for the next 25 years in the county where he resides, works or receives an education.
Perkins entered a plea of guilty earlier this month to the charge during a plea agreement where prosecutors and defense counsel jointly recommended a two-year sentence.
According to his indictment, Perkins committed the offense between Aug. 15 to Sept. 5.
Perkins committed the offense on an underage female and he was more than 10 years older than his victim.
He faced a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
