Talent wanted

TROY — The 2014 Troy Strawberry Festival is seeking contestants for this year’s talent competition.


If you are a singer, dancer, comedian or illusionist, talent competition organizers are looking for you.


Applications are being accepted through March 24 with taped auditions held on April 5 in Troy. Applications can be downloaded from www.hits1055.com (click on the Home.Grown.Talent. logo) or from www.gostrawberries.com under the Events tab.


The talent competition has been revamped for 2014 with cash prizes to the top three. Contestants will have their audition video-recorded on April 5 in Troy. Those videos will be posted on Hits1055.com for the public to vote on.


Top contestants chosen by the public will perform live at the Troy Strawberry Festival at 10:30 a.m. June 7. The winner will receive $300 and will open for the main act on Saturday night and will have the opportunity to perform at the 2014 Miami County Fair and the 2014 Harvest Moon and Balloon Fest. The second place winner will receive $125 and third Place will receive $75.


Eric Roetter, Home.Grown.Talent chairman, said this year provides an opportunity for great exposure for up-and-coming as well as experienced entertainers.


Contestants will be able to purchase their taped auditions for personal promotion as well.


Dave’s Services is providing the prize money to the winners, Hits 105.5 FM is supporting in promotion and air time and Take 2 Productions is offering video services in capturing the auditions.
