TROY — The Troy hockey team scored a win Friday night, but the rest of the weekend did not go according to plan.
The Trojans were plagued by penalties in losses Saturday and Sunday.
Troy (7-8-3) was defeated 4-1 by Springboro Sunday at Hobart Arena — with all of Sprinboro’s goals coming on power play situations. ‘Boro outshot Troy 26-15 in the win. Eli Walters scored the lone goal for Troy, which came off an assist by Mason Hagen.
On Saturday, Centerville scored three goals on power plays in a 7-4 win over the Trojans. Troy, however, did have a bright spot in the loss as A.J. Noll recorded a hat-trick, with one of those goals coming when Troy was short-handed. Doug Eardly added a goal and two assists and Mason Hagen had a pair of assists.
“We had a Friday night win, but Saturday and Sunday really brought us back down to earth,” Troy coach Phill Noll said. “(The penalties) killed us.”
Troy has three Southwest Ohio Hockey League games on deck. On Friday, Troy plays Beavercreek, followed by Springboro on Saturday and Centerville on Sunday.
